CRI听力:Chinese State Policy Prompts Car Owners to go Green

2014-09-02来源:CRI

Chinese automakers are now working to speed up their production of environmentally-friendly automobiles amid the new push by the government to get people behind the wheel of green vehicles.

A number of domestic automakers have increased their investments by at least 5-percent into research and development into clean-energy vehicles.

Chang'an Automotive is one of those companies.

Zhang Baolin is the president of the company.

"We have 6,000 clean energy vehicles that are being shown off in more than 10 cities in China. Later this year, our new model, fully-electric vehicles, which were developed as part of our EADO series will be released to the market. I strongly believe that with the strong support of State policies and, of course, from continued research, the development of clean energy vehicles in China looks promising."

The Chinese government has issued a series of policies, including new subsidies to green car buyers.

As of this week, green-energy vehicle buyers will be exempt from the 10-percent vehicle tax when they purchase certain fuel-efficient automobiles.

This subsidy program will run until the end of 2017.
