CRI听力:China Producing More Electric Cars
The latest numbers show more electric cars have been produced here in China in August, as the government rolled out more support for the sector.
According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, some 51-hundred green cars were produced last month.
That is more than 10 times of the number compared to the same period last year.
Wan Gang, Minister of Science and Technology, says the government will work to optimize the market environment.
"We should, under the premise of security and eco-friendliness, lower the threshold of market access, broaden the funding channel, and encourage social capital; on the other hand, we should perfect standards and rules, keep them under strict supervision and break local protection barriers in order to build a unified and organized market order. We should also promote fair competition among enterprises and boost the sustainable development of new energy vehicles."
The minister also encourage car makers to use internet technology, including smart power grids and mobile internet in developing new models.
China has rolled out a raft of measures to encourage the use of new energy vehicles, including tax exemptions, subsidies for car purchases, and requirements for government bodies to buy of the cars.
