CRI听力:Joan Rivers Burried at Star-Studded Funeral
A star-studded funeral has been held in New York for American comedian Joan Rivers, who died on Thursday at age 81.
Shock Jock Howard Stern delivered the eulogy, while musical numbers were performed by many from different parts of the entertainment world, including Broadway singer-actress Audra McDonald and actor Hugh Jackman.
The ceremony was held at the Temple of the Emanuel synagogue and brought together the worlds of Hollywood, theatre, fashion and media.
During the funeral, fellow comedian Livia Scott had this to say about the late Rivers.
"I think that she absolutely was not done. I think that it's just so inspiring that she was 81-years-old and one of the funniest people in the business."
A crowd of media stood watch behind barriers, and lining the streets were fans from as far away as Australia and England, like Karen Foley, who had this to say about what Rivers would think of all this.
"I'm sure she'd be laughing at it, wouldn't she? She'd be making a joke about it all."
The cause of death is being investigated. Rivers was taken to hospital on August 28 after she went into cardiac arrest during a routine procedure at a doctor's office.
