Jury Selection Starts in Montreal for 2012 Murder Case of Chinese Student
Jury selection has begun in the Canadian city of Montreal in a murder case involving a Chinese student.
32-year-old Luka Magnotta is facing five charges in connection with the killing and dismemberment of Lin Jun.
The 33-year-old Chinese engineering student was found murdered and dismembered in 2012.
The victim's body parts were discovered in different locations.
One part of Lin Jun's body was mailed to the office of Canada's Prime Minister.
Magnotta has pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him, which include murder and mailing obscene and indecent material.
Legal expert Eric Sutton says the case is drawing a lot of attention.
"The public seems to have convicted Mr. Magnotta, but they haven't had the benefit of seeing all of the evidence and what defense he may have."
The selection process for the jurors could take up to two weeks.
