CRI听力:China Not Distracted by Short-term Fluctuations: Premier

Speaking at the opening session, Li Keqiang says the country's economy is operating within a reasonable range.

"We have continued to follow the principle of making the progress or maintaining stability; we have stayed a course and pursued a proactive approach. Instead of toping strong economic stimulus through easing monetary policy, we have vigorously promoted reform and economic adjustment, improved people's livelihood.

The Premier also says China's economy remains on track, with growth at 7.4 percent, better employment and a 2.3 percent rate of inflation through the first half of the year.

Li Keqiang says reform and innovation have helped China maintain steady and sound growth.

Also speaking at the opening ceremony, founder of the World Economic Forum, Klaus Schwab, says he's confident about China's future role in the world economy.

"China has a significant influence in changing, in shaping the world today. It will continue to have a tremendous role to play in strengthening our collective global future. With over 1,000 business leaders from outside China. This highlights the confidence in your country and its continued attractiveness for foreign business."

The theme of this year's forum is "Creating Value through Innovation".

Discussions so far have been focusing on various issues, ranging from sustainable growth to climate change.

They've also included a number of local topics, including Confucius and Chinese pop music.

Over 19-hundred people, including government representatives and business leaders, from 90-different countries are taking part in the 3-day forum in the coastal city.

Since the founding of the Summer Davos sessions in 2007, Tianjin and the coastal city of Dalian have been hosting the event every other year.

This year's Summer Davos in Tianjin runs through Friday.
