CRI听力:UK Leaders Make Scotland 'No' Vote Plea
The leaders of the main parties in the UK have travelled to Scotland to urge voters to reject independence in the September 18 referendum.
Prime Minister David Cameron, opposition leader Ed Miliband and Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg held separate events to call on voters to keep Scotland in the United Kingdom.
They made the move after several opinion polls had shown a surge in support for independence over recent weeks.
Speaking in Edinburgh, Cameron said he would be heartbroken if Scots vote 'yes'.
"I care hugely about this extraordinary country, this United Kingdom that we have built together and that's what I want to talk about today because I would be heartbroken if this family of nations that we have put together and that we have done such amazing things together if this family of nations was torn apart."
The prime minister said a "No" vote would trigger a rapid and comprehensive move to ensure Scotland has greater devolved powers.
Scotland's nationalist leader, First Minister Alex Salmond, called the leaders' visits a sign of "high panic and desperation".
Both Yes and No Campaigns in Scotland are stepping up efforts to convince more voters with only a week to go until the independence referendum.
