CRI听力:IS Releases New Video Showing British Hostage
The Islamic State group has released a new video showing another British hostage, a photojournalist who has worked for publications including the Sunday Times, the Sun, and the Sunday Telegraph.
"Hello. My name is John Cantlie. I'm a British journalist who used to work for some of the bigger newspapers and magazines in the UK. Now, I know what you're thinking. You're thinking - he's only doing this because he's a prisoner."
In the roughly three-minute video, Cantlie was wearing an orange T-shirt and sitting behind a desk while criticizing the war on the IS group.
Unlike the previous videos, no IS militants are seen in the footage.
IS has beheaded two US journalists and a British aid worker in what it calls reprisal for US air strikes against the group in Iraq.
It also threatens to kill another British hostage.
British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond says he has heard reports of the video and will look closely at the material.
Cantlie has reported from countries including Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
It is his second time being held captive in Syria.
He was kidnapped in 2012 but managed to escape after one week.
He returned to Syria at the end of 2012.
