CRI听力:Turkey Warns of Syrian Refugee Crisis
Turkish authorities warn that the number of Syrian refugees could rise further, even after some 130,000 Syrian refugees reached Turkey in the past four days.
The refugees have been fleeing the advance of Islamic State militants who have seized swathes of Iraq and Syria.
It is now reported that the IS fighters are closing in on the Syrian town of Kobani.
Numan Kurtulmus is the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister.
"Now, if the attacks of IS continue in Kobani, as you know there is a city right across our Mursitpinar border gate, it might be possible that both these people from this city and people who had arrived to this city come to Turkey in bigger numbers. Our preparations regarding this continue."
On Monday, fighting between Kurdish fighters and the IS militants raged on near Kobani.
Meanwhile, clashes broke out between Turkish police and Kurds wanting to cross the border to take aid to the Kobani region.
Angry people at the border threw rocks at the police, saying the Turkish government was preventing them from fleeing the IS fighters.
The UN refugee agency made an appeal to the international community, saying Turkey urgently needs help to care for the influx of refugees.
Turkey has been struggling to cope with over a million Syrian refuges who have crossed into its territory since the uprising against the Syrian government started over three years ago.
