CRI听力:China Calls for Global Efforts to Fight Terrorism Following Blasts

2014-09-23来源:CRI

China is calling on the global community to join together to fight terrorism, following a number of explosions in Xinjiang that killed at least two people and injured many others.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying responded to reports that Chinese militants are heading to Iraq, Syria, and Southeast Asia to get terrorist training.

"As for the report you mentioned, we all have noticed. But right now, we have no knowledge of specific circumstances. But like we stressed many times, East Turkistan terrorist forces have actively sent out crews to war zones to participate in so-called jihad, to collude with international terrorist forces, posing a severe threat to regional and international peace, security and stability."

The explosions in Xinjiang happened on Sunday afternoon in at least three locations in Luntai County, some 360 kilometers southwest of the regional capital, Urumqi.

Similar violence in the past has been blamed on militants from the East Turkestan Islamic Movement.

"So we believe that cracking down on East Turkistan is an important part of the international anti-terrorism campaign. We hope the international community strengthens cooperation with China to jointly combat terrorism and protect peace and security in relevant regions and in the world."

Recent reports indicate that four Uygur people from Xinjiang with fake Turkish passports, allegedly seeking terrorist training, have been arrested in Indonesia.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry says details of the incident are still being verified.
