Starting off with the ongoing Incheon Asian Games,

China bagged another 20 gold medals yesterday, raising the country's total to 79 and giving it a commanding lead of first place at the Games.

Japan and South Korea each have 28 golds, but Japan has outnumbered the host nation in silver medals to take second place overall.

It was a bitter/sweet day for China.

In football,

The Chinese men's Olympic team lost to Thailand 2-0 and won't be advancing to the next round.

Both of Thailand's goals came in the second half.

Elsewhere, another three golds for China in the swimming pool,

Bi Yirong finished first in the women's 800 meter freestyle.

Rising star Ning Zetao claimed the title and broke the Asian record that he set last year in men's 100-meter freestyle.

"I'm super, super excited. No Asian had ever finished the course within 48 seconds, it is a breakthrough for me. Now we can challenge those European and American competitors."

Shi Yang won the gold medal in the final of the men's 50 meter butterfly.

In shooting,

The Chinese shooting team won first place with a world record in the men's 50-meter rifle prone.

China also took in two golds in the men's 25 meter standard pistol shooting and the men's 10 meter running target.

The rowing portion of the Games ended on Thursday and China enjoyed its best Asian Games ever with 9 gold and 1 silver, medalling in all events in which team China participated.
