The South Korean Unification Ministry has said North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's leadership looks "normal", despite mounting speculation over his health and grip on power.

South Korean Unification Ministry Spokesperson, Lim Byeong-cheol.

"When North Korea's senior officials visited here, Hwang Pyong So, director of North Korean military's General Political Bureau, conveyed Kim Jong Un's greetings to our president and the North has continued to report about Kim Jong Un's leadership. In light of those circumstances, it looks like Kim Jong Un's leadership is normal as usual."

South Korea has nonetheless speculated that it remains likely Kim is still in control of his government.

Kim has been absent from public view since he attended a concert with his wife in early September, which is fuelling speculation over the state of his health and the possibility he has been sidelined in a power struggle.

He did not even turn up at the celebrations for the founding of North Korea's Workers' Party.

North Korean Authorities have delivered a statement urging South Korea to stop sending propaganda leaflets over the border, which Pyongyang regard as premeditated aggression.

On Friday, activists in South Korea sent some 200,000 anti-North Korea leaflets across the border to the North. The leaflets were attached to giant transparent balloons.
