CRI听力:Third Shaolin Kung fu Festival Held in London
Kung fu lovers from all over the world attended the festival at the Shaolin Temple UK, which aims to create an environment for exchanging Chinese culture, religion and philosophy in Britain.
One of the arts greatest fighters Master Shi Yanzi, who started his kung fu journey in the Henan province in China, set up his own kung fu temple in the UK nearly two decades ago.
He hopes the festival can bring people together to get a better notion of the sport.
"The main theme for the Third Shaolin Culture Festival is to build up a platform on which all the fans of Shaolin culture in the world, in particular those from Europe can get together at this place and get in touch closely with the Shaolin Culture and then they can have better understanding and learn profound knowledge about it."
At the festival Students performed various forms and fighting skills representing the many disciplines of this Chinese martial art.
The sporting and cultural event was put together by the Venerable Grand Master Shi Yongxin, Abbot of the Songshan Shaolin Temple.
The festival runs until the 14th October.
