CRI听力:CPC Opens Key Session on Rule of Law

2014-10-21来源:CRI

The Communist Party of China has kicked off a key meeting which focuses on the rule of law.

The fourth plenum of the Party's 18th Central Committee will last till Thursday.

Chinese citizens have spoken out about their expectations on the meeting.

"I look forward to a better administration according to law in the catering industry. So people coming to tour in our Shaanxi Province can have green and healthy food."

"I hope that the government can stage relevant laws and regulations after the meeting, and let us ordinary people and enterprises have judicial justice."

President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, has given priority to the authority of the Constitution and the rule of law since taking office.

"We should comprehensively carry out the basic strategy of governing the country according to law. We must see to it that all people are equal before the law; speed up the construction of a socialist state ruled by law, improve law making, ensure strict law enforcement, impartial administration of justice, and observance of law by everyone."

President Xi made the comments last month at an event marking the 60th anniversary of the National People's congress.

It's believed that plans announced out of the session this week will be significant on both the domestic and international scene.

Observers are suggesting the implementation of the 'rule of law' will help aid the government's current drive to eliminate corruption and help the CPC overcome resistance to reform by those who would prefer the status quo.

For more on this, CRI's John Artman earlier spoke to Dr. Chen Gang, Research Fellow with East Asian Institute at National University of Singapore.
