Chinese Medical Team Offers Free Cataract Surgeries in DPRK
A Chinese medical team has launched a volunteer project to provide free cataract surgeries in North Korea.
The team of 11 eye specialists is from Jilin.
They have selected about 140 patients eligible for cataract surgeries.
Wang Shuxia with the medical team says their patients are overjoyed in being able to see properly again.
"An 88-year-old patient has just kissed me when I changed the dressing on her eyes after a surgery. She was so excited in recovering her sight after years of blindness."
The Chinese team expects to complete its work in North Korea by the end of this month.
