CRI听力:Russian FM Lavrov Denies Claims Russia and US to Share Intelligence on IS
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has denied that Moscow and Washington had agreed to exchange intelligence data about the Islamic State group.
The statement came after US Secretary of State John Kerry claimed the countries had agreed to work together against the Islamic State group during the ministers' meeting in Paris last week.
Lavrov said he told Kerry that Russia had been ready to co-operate on the subject of anti-terrorism for a long time, but added that no agreement had been made.
"This ungrounded offence (Snowden scandal) prevailed over a common sense in Washington's position. So, I told Kerry, if you want to work together then let's do it, not selectively, but within the framework of the previously agreed mechanisms (meaning the US-Russian anti-terror working group as part of the Presidential Commission)."
Lavrov also commented on the rumours of a Russian submarine spotted in Swedish waters last week.
He believed the footage perhaps showed a log and reminded people that the speculation came from Swedish media and had not been confirmed by authorities in the country.
Swedish authorities have called off their week-long search for the suspected submarine in the Stockholm archipelago.
