CRI听力:Exit Polls Indicate Poroshenko's Party will Secure Narrow Win

2014-10-27来源:CRI

Exit polling is suggesting Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's party is poised to eek out a narrow victory in Ukraine's parliamentary election.

However, the Poroshenko bloc is positioned to fall well short of an outright majority.

Polling suggests Poroshenko's party is going to get around 22.2 percent of the vote.

Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk's Popular Front is polling only slightly behind at 21.8 percent.

A recently formed pro-European party has just over 14-percent of the vote.

Poroshenko Bloc and Popular Front are likely to form a coalition together with other pro-European parties to form the next government.

Iryna Bekeshkina is the head of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation.

"We predicted that there would be surprises. Because those polls we announced before - we said those were the polls of only those who made up their minds, while 32 percent of those who have not yet decided may change the situation. And they have indeed changed it."

Preliminary official results are expected later on this Monday.

The national vote has not taken place in the rebel-controlled city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine.

"I think, these elections that are held on the territory of Ukraine are pre-planned, they reflect their interests, and we - Donetsk residents - we have already made our choice,"

The rebels plan to hold a separate leadership election on November 2nd.

Those results are unlikely to be recognized by the leadership in Kiev.
