CRI听力:Sting's Musical Opens on Broadway
Music legend 'Sting' has landed on Broadway as a composer with his debut musical "The Last Ship".
It was a star studded opening with actors and singers including Robert De Niro, Liam Neeson and Debbie Harry attending the show, to support the Grammy-winning rock star.
The musical is based on his childhood in a shipbuilding town called Wallsend in north England.
It was mixed emotions for the singer on the opening night.
"This is a totally novel experience for me, I'm out of my comfort zone, but very excited about it, and terrified and overjoyed to be here."
Despite winning 16 Grammys, the former front man of the rock group 'The Police' also admitted being nervous before the curtain went up for the show he'd been working on for five years.
"The Last Ship" is packed with about 20 songs ranging from sweet melodic ballads, to toe-tapping dance numbers set in the grim shipyard.
