CRI听力:Ukraine and Russia Hold New Gas Crisis Talks
A new round of talks is underway between Ukraine and Russia to try to settle their dispute over natural gas supplies.
The Energy Ministers from the two countries are meeting in Brussels under the mediation of the European Commission.
EU Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger says the main issue is where Ukraine is going to find the money do pay for Russian gas supplies.
"Our ambition is, I think our common ambition is to come to an interim solution, to come to a winter package, for to solve our security of supply challenges for next winter for now up to end of March 2015,"
Russian gas giant Gazprom cut off supplies to Kiev in June.
Moscow says its owed 4.5 billion US dollars in unpaid bills.
Ukraine has been searching for different funding avenues, including from the European Union.
Ukraine relies on Russia for half of all its natural gas needs.
