CRI听力:China to Establish Officials' Lifelong Accountability System

2014-11-08来源:CRI

China is to set up a lifelong accountability system for officials, as part of the ongoing effort to improve the country's legal system.

Officials will assume lifelong accountability for their decisions affecting people's livelihoods and the country's economy.

Yuan Shuhong, deputy director of the State Council, Legislative Affairs Office.

"The official will be held accountable even after he goes to other posts, retires, or quits his job."

Yuan says the system has been incorporated into the country's legislation plans.

"Ascertaining where the responsibility lies is a must, which means investigators should make clear who is accountable, be it the chief, deputy chief or other officials in charge of the affairs."

Yuan notes that public participation, validity checks for officials' decisions, and group discussions before decisions are necessary in making major administrative decisions.
