2014-11-12来源:CRI

More than 50-thousand mourners, along with several African leaders, have attended the funeral of Zambia's late-President in the country's capital, Lusaka.

Michael Sata has been laid to rest after dying late last month following a protracted illness.

Africa Union chair Nkosazana Zuma.

"His hands-on approach, his accessibility to ordinary people and his commitment to improve services for the people are some of the qualities that Michael Sata took into office after his election as president of the republic in 2011."

Zambia is set to elect a new president within the next 90 days.

Vice President Guy Scott, a white Zambian, is not eligible to run for the top office because his parents are not of Zambian decent.

A date for the presidential election has not yet been set.
