CRI听力:Chen Long Ousted at the China Open
China's representation at the China Open in Fuzhou took a big hit yesterday, with local favorites Chen Long and Wang Shixian both going down.
2nd seeded Chen Long went down to Germany's Marc Zwiebler in the men's single's event, despite having control of the 2nd set.
"Actually, he played very well. I took a 17-9 lead in the second set and lost in the end. I think it's normal because he is better than me today."
For Zwiebler, this is first victory over Chen Long in some 4-years.
"I know Chen Long is a favorite. He is world champion. I lost to him for five times. For me, it's easy to play against him. He is a favorite and I'm a follower. It's fun to play. I've nothing to lose. Today is very much fun. I am very happy to win the second set. I could feel he is a little nervous. He made some easy mistakes which normally he doesn't do. I played well, but he didn't play a hundred percent. "
Chinese favorite Lin Dan is through after getting past Demark's Jan Jorgensen.
"I made some easy mistakes. I really had my chances today. But of course he is tough to play here in China."
Chinese star Wang Shixian has been bounced from the China Open after going down to Japan's Akane Yamaguchi 21-14, 21-10.
