CRI听力:Five Injured Chinese Workers Treated in Malaysia
Five injured Chinese workers are now receiving treatment in Sarawak after a coal mine exploded in eastern Malaysia, killing three.
A total of 29 people, all foreign workers, are injured in the weekend's explosion.
There had been 119 miners working underground.
The explosion site is about 130 kilometers of Kuching, the capital city of Sarawak.
Liu Dongyuan, the deputy Consul-General of the Chinese Consulate in Kuching, says the injured workers, who are from Anhui Province, are now in stable condition.
"This morning, an injured worker was transferred to the hospital in Kuching, and now he is in a stable condition. The consulate staff have visited the workers in hospitals, some of them are to receive further treatment. We are keeping a close watch on the developments."
Liu says most of the injured workers suffered burns as the tunnel caught fire.
Police are now looking into the accident.
It is reported the mine, owned by a Chinese national, has been in operation for 8 years.
Most of the miners are foreign workers, coming from countries including China, Indonesia and Myanmar.
