CRI听力:Slain German Samaritan Honored by Citizens
More than 100 people have attended a vigil in Berlin in memory of Tugce Albayrak, a German student of Turkish descent who was beaten to death after stopping a group of men harassing two girls in the city of Offenbach.
Kenan Kolat is a member of Germany's Turkish community.
"Here, there are not only Turks and Germans but also other foreigners who came to pay their final respects to Tugce. Tugce was a part of this country as she was born here and we are bidding farewell to her all together. This is very meaningful in terms of solidarity."
Albayrak was attacked by three men in a car park last month after she came to the aid of two teenage girls.
She died on her 23rd birthday after her parents decided to switch off her life support after doctors declared her brain dead.
An 18-year-old man had been arrested in connection with her death.
German president Joachim Gauck is said to be considering awarding a posthumous medal to Albayrak amid an outpouring of public outrage over her killing.
