CRI听力:Netanyahu Tells Kerry That Israel Will Rebuff Palestinian U.N. Bid
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that he will not allow others to dictate conditions for negotiations that might compromise Israel's security.
"I said at the meeting that the attempts of the Palestinians and some European countries to force conditions on Israel will only deteriorate the situation and will jeopardize Israel and therefore we will fiercely oppose it."
He made the comments after he met with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Rome.
During their meeting, the two sides developed their responses to a draft UN resolution that would set a two-year timetable for an Israeli-Palestinian peace accord.
Israel has said it hoped the U.S. side would veto any moves to set the time frame for its withdrawal from territory Palestinians seek for a state.
The talks are taking place as Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is expected to push for a UN Security Council vote on a resolution setting a November 2016 deadline for ending the Israeli occupation.
