CRI听力:New York Gunman Told Public 'Watch What I'm Going to Do'

2014-12-23来源:CRI

New York police say the gunman who shot and killed two New York police officers over the weekend reportedly publicly stated to people -quote- "watch what I'm going to do."

Lead detective Robert Boyce.

"We have found on one of our videos, two males who spoke with the perpetrator just prior to the event, he begins the conversation with them, they start speaking and he asks them three things, he asks them for their gang affiliation, he asks them to follow him on Instagram and then he says 'watch what I'm going to do'."

Ismaaiyl Brinsley shot two police officers from behind as they sat in their patrol car in Brooklyn before killing himself in a nearby subway station.

Authorities say Brinsley's online posts suggest the attack was motivated by anger over the police killing of unarmed black men in New York and Fergus.

Police in New York say the 28-year-old has a long criminal history, a hatred of government and mental problems.

Candlelit vigils have been held in New York in memory of the two police officers, Liu Wenjian and Raphael Ramos.

The mother of Eric Garner, the black man who died at the hands of white police officers in New York, is among those who have turned out at a memorial for the two police officers.
Gwen Carr has denounced the killing of the officers.

"I'm standing here in sorrow, about losing those two police officers. That was definitely not our agenda. We are going in peace and anyone who is standing with us, we want you to not use Eric Garner's name for violence, because we are not about that. These two police officers lost their lives senselessly and our condolences to the families and we stand with the families."

Eric Garner died after being choked out by a police officer in July.

However, a grand jury decided not to indict the police officer involved.
