CRI听力:Indonesians Pray for Tsunami Victims
Thousands of Indonesians have taken to churches and mosques on the eve of the tenth anniversary of the deadly Indian Ocean tsunami which left over 230-thousand people dead across 14 different countries.
Catholics in Banda Aceh, the first place to be hit by the massive wall of water, have held services for the victims.
"Today I especially pray for our brothers and sisters who died in the tsunami 10 years ago. Tomorrow, to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the tsunami, we Christians will also hold a special Mass to pray for them. We hope that they get a beautiful place there."
The Banda Aceh region in northern Sumatra is already coping with massive monsoon flooding this week which has forced over 120-thousand people from their homes.
The tsunami triggered by magnitude-9 earthquake off western Indonesia, wiped out most of the coastal areas of Indonesia, killing at least 170-thousand people in that country alone.
