CRI听力:China, Costa Rica Establish Strategic Partnership
China and Costa Rica have established a strategic partnership following a meeting between the countries' presidents in Beijing on Tuesday.
Xi Jinping has sat down with his Central American counterpart, Luis Guillermo Solis, to talk about cooperation in infrastructure construction, agricultural technology, telecommunications, and clean energy.
They've also agreed to start work early on a joint action plan on bilateral cooperation from 2016 to 2020.
After the talks, the two presidents witnessed the signing of agreements on economic cooperation, special economic zones, and inspection and quarantine measures.
In a speech made at Renmin University, Solis said that he will continue to promote the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
"This should be based upon seven pillars: infrastructure, investments, agriculture, security, services, finances, and economic zones and energy. I see then lots of space for growth in the future".
He also promised to ease access for Chinese tourists to travel in his country and would like to work with China on issues of climate change and UN reform.
The two presidents are scheduled to attend the first ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) forum, which opens in Beijing on Thursday.
