CRI听力:Suicide Bomb Attack on Istanbul Police Station 'Unclear' Whether Related to Any Groups: Turk
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has ordered an investigation into a suicide bomb attack on a police station in Istanbul on Tuesday.
"Two separate bombs failing to go off were defused. One policeman is wounded. Police forces and intelligence services are investigating whether there is a link to any group. The most comprehensive investigation will be carried out regarding the attack that was carried out in the heart of Istanbul and when the links to an organization are found, further steps will be taken."
The female suicide bomber blew herself up inside a police station in Istanbul's historic Sultanahmet district, killing one officer and wounding another.
Her nationality and identity are still unknown.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility but the bombing comes less than a week after the far-left group 'Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front' claimed it was behind a grenade attack on police near the Prime Minister's office in Istanbul.
The Group had warned of further strikes after a previous attack in which a man carrying an automatic weapon was detained near the Ottoman-era Dolmabahce Palace.
The group was also behind a suicide bombing at the U.S. Embassy last year as well as attacks on Turkish police stations.
