CRI听力:Russia Concerned with U.S. Military Deployment in Ukraine
The Russian government is warning of serious consequences following the deployment of U.S. military personnel in Ukraine.
Some 300 American military personnel are being dispatched to Ukraine to help train Ukrainian forces.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Alexander Lukashevich.
"We are alerting Washington again on the potential huge damage to our bilateral relations if people in Donbas start to be killed by American weaponry. The arms supply is expected not only to break the ceasefire but also to bring new escalation in the east of Ukraine. It also threatens the safety of the Russian Federation, which we have previously said in the past. The territory of our country was shelled from the Ukrainian side more than once."
Meanwhile, the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee has issued a call for the Obama administration to provide further support to the Ukrainian government in its fight against the rebels.
US lawmakers are also drafting a bill which would allocate a billion U.S. dollars to supply the Ukrainian Army with weapons and training.
A number of European governments have been warning US lawmakers about moving toward military support for Ukraine's government, suggesting it has the potential to lead to a wider conflict.
