CRI听力:Netanyahu Says No Palestinian State If He Wins another Term
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is promising he will not permit the emergence of a Palestinian state if he is re-elected.
His comments come just a day before the Israeli parliamentary election.
"I think that whoever moves to establish a Palestinian state or intends to withdraw from territory is simply yielding territory for radical Islamic terrorist attacks against Israel, this is the genuine reality that was created here in the past few years. Those who do not understand that bury their heads in the sand. The left-wing parties do it, bury their heads in the sand, time and again."
The statement contradicts previous statements, where his administration has expressed support for a two-state solution.
Observers suggest Netanyahu's new statement is meant to foster more support from the far-right in Israel.
The latest polling is suggesting Netanyahu's coalition is beginning to trail in support behind the opposition Zionist Union.
