CRI听力:Anti-austerity Protests Continue in Frankfurt
Anti-austerity protesters have been taking part in full-scaled demonstrations in the German city of Frankfurt, targeting the opening of the new European Central Bank headquarters.
Two police officers have been injured. At least four police vehicles have been set on fire.
Claudia Rogalski is a spokesperson for the Frankfurt Police Department.
"We already had riots overnight. 4 vehicles were set on fire in the west end area, 3 others were damaged. That kept going on. In the morning stones were thrown at colleagues near the old opera and windows were damaged. In the meantime, 7 more cars were burnt and the first precinct was attacked."
Protesters, part of the so-called Blockupy alliance, claim they're upset about the ECB's role in austerity measures in EU member states, particularly Greece.
