CRI听力:Xi Jinping's Book Set New Global Sales Record

2015-04-17来源:CRI

Over 4 million copies of the book "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China" have been sold worldwide, with overseas sales accounting for one tenth of the total.

It sets a new record among publications by senior leaders in China since 1978.

The book covers Xi Jinping's efforts from 2012 to 2014, including his speeches, interviews and correspondences.

It has also drawn wide attention at the London Book Fair, underway this week.

Martin Albrow, honorary vice-president of the British Sociological Association, explains what he likes about the book.

"The most interesting parts were for me, where he provides guidance for party members and guidance for the spirit of China today, the altitude and values people should adopt and the examples he gives of his own personal experiences, so the most interesting part for me is of his personal experiences and ordinary people's lives. That's very revealing."

The London book fair has attracted over 1,000 publishing houses from over 60 countries and regions.

In terms of Chinese publications in general, Jacks Thomas, director of the book fair, says more and more readers are beginning to take notice of the country's authors.

"People from all around the world who come to the London Book Fair, we have over 120 countries represented want to meet with China. China does the most amazing classical, traditional and also future-looking publishing. One of the things that I've never ceased to be amazed at in China is the digital innovation and the way multi-media is no problem, it's just an opportunity."

China Publishing Group has won the Chairman's Award at this year's fair.

Started in the 1970s, the London Book Fair is one of the world's largest book-publishing trade fairs, held every year.
