CRI听力:Eric Chu Arrives in Shanghai for Forum
The Chairman of Taiwan's ruling Kuomintang party Eric Chu is in Shanghai leading a delegation attending the 10th Cross-Strait Economic, Trade and Culture Forum, scheduled for Sunday.
The forum will focus on small and medium-sized companies, youth and ordinary people, and aims to build a consensus and promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations.
Officials from the Communist Party of China, the Kuomintang party, as well as representatives of small and medium-sized companies from both sides of the Strait will take part in the event.
On the eve of his visit, Eric Chu called for efforts to develop relations across the Strait for the benefit of future generations.
"In terms of Cross-Straits relations, it will be best for all the people, for Taiwan, the Kuomintang, and the next generation, if we can both hold an open attitude, follow the path of the history, and reflect on past deficiencies."
After the forum, Chu will visit Beijing and meet with leaders of the Communist Party of China.
