CRI听力:1300 Killed in Week-long Heat Wave in India
The death toll from the heat wave currently gripping India has surpassed 13-hundred, with temperatures soaring above 47 degrees in certain parts of the country.
Southern India's Andhra Pradesh has recorded over a thousand deaths.
"From last one week, we are suffering a lot due to the heat wave. Mercury is soaring. Pets, children, grandparents are suffering a lot because of the (heat) wave. Even we can see a simple person sitting in the home, sweating a lot due to dehydration. Night time also because of the power cuts and from the morning and the night and in the middle of the daty, the power cuts are creating a lot of problems for the households and for all the family members."
Doctors in the State are being recalled to help treat people suffering from sun-stroke.
Forecasters are suggesting the heat wave may start subsiding later on this Friday.
