CRI听力:92-year-old Becomes Oldest Woman to Complete a Marathon
92-year-old Harriette Thompson completed the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego on Sunday, becoming the oldest woman to finish a marathon.
She finished the 42.1-kilometer race in 7 hours, 24 minutes and 36 seconds.
"On this course my son was with me and he kept feeding me and giving me all sorts of drinks and then everybody, I got so tired of hearing 'Harriette.' I think I was going to change my name. But it was nice everybody was, wanted to take selfies and it was fun having all that attention."
Thompson started running at the age of 76.
She has now competed in 16 marathons to help raise money for cancer research, a disease she has herself survived.
The oldest male marathon runner is Fauja Singh, who was 101 when he retired from racing in 2013.
