CRI听力:Zheng Jie, Serena Williams Advance at French Open
The Chinese duo of Zheng Jie and Chan Yung-Jan have made it to the third round of the women's doubles event at the French Open.
They beat the team of German Annika Beck and Shahar Peer of Israel in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
Zheng Jie has also advanced in the mixed doubles,
Zheng, along with partner Henri Kontinen, beat Andreja Klepac and Rajeev Ram 6-3, 1-6, 11-9.
Rising Chinese tennis star Zheng Saisai and her partner were knocked out of the Women's Doubles event, losing to Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova 6-3, 6-2.
In women's singles, top-seed Serena Williams has earned herself a place in the last 16 with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 win over former No. 1 Victoria Azarenka.
"Even though I lost the first set, I told myself, well, at least you're playing better than I did in my second-round match, because would have lost so easy had I played that same way. I think overall, it was definitely better. It's definitely a step in the right direction. And I just want -- I really want to be here."
With the victory, the American has improved to 50-11 at Roland Garros, making her the first woman to earn 50 victories at the French Open since 1968.
Her next match will be against compatriot Sloane Stephens.
On the men's side, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray are all through to the fourth round with straight sets victories.
