CRI听力:Video Released of French Hostage in Yemen
A French woman has been reported kidnapped in Yemen after the release of a video published on Monday calling for her release.
The French national, who has been held hostage since February, Isabelle Prime, gives her details in the video.
"My name is Isabelle, I've been kidnapped ten weeks ago in Yemen, in Sanaa."
According to a report from Associate Press, Prime shows up in the video under severe duress. She is dressed in a black robe, looking weak and in pain.
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius says the government is now verifying the video.
"We are checking the authenticity of that video, but there is a big chance that it's authentic and that it has been filmed some weeks ago. We are very alert, as we always are. And at the same time, we are very discrete. You know that unfortunately France had other hostages in the past and every time we respect the same rule: being very alert, and that we are, and we don't say anything, because saying things can threaten the life of the hostages."
There is no word on who took Prime hostage.
Prime was kidnapped from Sanaa about four months ago, along with her Yemeni translator.
The translator was released shortly after.
The French Foreign Ministry says they believe the video was shot in April.
The government is going to meet with Prime's family today.
