IMF managing director Christine Lagarde is calling on the US Federal Reserve to put off any plans it may have to hike interest rates this year.
She says any move to raise rates should be put off until at least next year to help off-set the current deflationary trend taking place around the world.
At the same time, the IMF has revised-down US economic growth for this year to 2.5-percent, down from its April's prediction of 3.1 percent.
Lagarde says the revised forecast is largely due to the soft performance of the US economy through the first quarter.
For more, CRI's Luo Yu spoke earlier with Dr. Steve Hanke, Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute in Washington, DC.
