CRI听力:China-US BIT Talks Underway
On the economic front, talks on a bilateral investment treaty have been high on the agenda of the ongoing Strategic and Economic Dialogue between China and the United States.
Earlier this month, the two sides exchanged initial negative list offers, which outline sectors that are closed to foreign investment.
The initial swapping of "negative lists" has been hailed as the opening of the final phase in negotiations that will lead to an eventual deal.
Zhang Xiangchen, China's deputy international trade representative and assistant minister of commerce, says the two sides will have two more rounds of talks before September, and the quality of the negative lists will be the next issue.
For more on this, we earlier spoke with Jeff Schott, a Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, one of America's top think tanks, based in Washington, D.C.
