FA Cup winners Arsenal beat champions Chelsea 1-0 in England's Community Shield season opener at Wembley on Sunday.
Arsenal captain Per Mertesacker says this gives them a lot of confidence heading into the Premier League.
"It's difficult to say at the moment, obviously we've had a great pre-season so far. The peak was today by winning the community shield and we are quite confident that we will have a better start than last season."
This is the first win for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger over Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho.
