CRI听力:France Opens Terror Investigation on Train Gunman
French authorities have confirmed they're looking at terror-related charges connected to the would-be gunman who was taken down by passengers last week on a train from Amsterdam to Paris.
25-year-old Ayoub el Khazzani, a Moroccan national, had an assault rifle, a hand gun and some 270 bullets when he was wrestled to the ground on the train by passengers, including two off-duty U.S. servicemen.
Paris' prosecutor Francois Molins is dismissing Khazzani's assertion that he had only wanted to rob the passengers.
"The study of the internet activity of this telephone also demonstrated that Ayoub el Khazzani had watched YouTube audio files whilst already on the Thalys train in which an individual called on the faithful to fight and take up arms in the name of the Prophet."
Khazzani has been identified by Spanish authorities as a possible threat, suggesting he may have traveled to Syria recently.
He was taken down by four men, including three Americans and a Brit, after his AK-47 jammed.
