US-based beverage brand Pepsi-Cola is set to release its first smartphone in China on October 20.
Reports say the company will launch an Android cellphone, called Pepsi P1, in the Chinese market only.
The smartphone will be priced at around 1,300 yuan or 210 U.S. dollars.
Currently, PepsiCo is working with a licensing partner market a line of mobile phones and accessories in China.
However, the company says it has no plan to get into the mobile phone manufacturing business so far.
For more on this topic, CRI's Spencer Musick spoke with Doug Young, Associate professor at Fudan University and former China company news chief with Reuters.
