CRI听力:Travel Agency Board Member Detained after Mainland Tourist Dies
A board member of a Hong Kong travel agency has been detained for investigation after a mainland tourist died during a shopping dispute.
It is reported that the travel agency and the tour group it organized used fake documents.
Dong Yaozhong, the Chief Executive with the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong, said "We have clear regulations there that the travel agencies should have obtained licenses and cooperate with the ones that also with a legal license. And they have violated our regulations. We also have found that the parts of documents that handed by the local agency are fake. We will hand this to the police."
Miao Chunqi, 54, died at Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Tuesday morning, a day after an incident at a jewelry shop in which he allegedly tried to mediate in a shopping dispute, and was dragged out of the store and beaten unconscious by a group of men.
A preliminary autopsy report says the victim may have died from a heart attack.
