CRI听力:Show Luo Releases His 11th Album 'Reality Show'
In his new album, "Let Go" or "Gou Le" in Chinese(够了) is his first single written by himself, which wishes to use the power of music to fight against cyber-bullying.
The singer explains how he wanted to deliver his observation of lives to the song.
"Some celebrities, who are usually in the spotlight, are inclined to be under fire on Weibo for whatever reasons. Also there are plenty of netizens who had once exposed others' privacy irritated another group of netizens and they were later uncovered. So I feel when you attack others, you might also be under attack afterwards."
Show Luo unveils the features of cyber-bully with such lyrics written as "You're both a spectator and a murderer."
The music video is directed by Muh Chen(陈奕仁), who had conducted a research on the most vulnerable group of people in cyber-bully, as Show Luo explains:
"Before we made this MV, we'd done a survey finding that fatty, gay and celebrities are the top three victims on Weibo who are most probably exposed and received hateful comments. Then our music video contains these three types of people. This video has moves a lot of viewers to tears since some of them have experienced a relentless exposure."
To promote his first single, Show Luo has invited many of his celebrity friends, including Elva Hsiao and Rainie Yang, to make a sentence with the phrase "let go".
The MV of Show Luo's single appears much like a celebrity campaign against cyber-bullying which has led his single to become a huge success, with the song reportedly amounting to over 3 million YouTube views since its release.
Show Luo contributes his success partly to the director's creative designs.
"This music video has given rise to a heated debate in Taiwan, where local viewers watch it more than once. The director is also unique in the shooting style which gives a moody effect through black and white photography. All people live in a black cyber world, with netizens who wear white masks."
In fact, almost each of Show Luo's songs in his new album were like a mini movie. In addition, Luo's new album also contains his songs which were sung together with other singers from South Korea and Japan, such as POLESTAR, a collaboration with J-pop singer-songwriter and TV host MAY J.
Last but not the least, Show Luo will soon release an EP that contains two new singles, an MV and VCR this coming Friday.
For Studio Plus, I'm Xu Fei.
