Lawmakers have approved the legislation at the end of a week-long bimonthly session of the National People's Congress Standing Committee.
The new law, which takes effect as of this Friday, January 1st, requires telecom operators and internet service providers to offer technical support and assistance to police and national security authorities in both the prevention and investigation into terrorist activities.
