This year's first-round draw for the Australian Open has been set following the qualifiers.

China has 5 different players in the women's singles competition.

Han Xinyun, who comes into the singles competition in Melbourne after winning the doubles final in Hobart yesterday with her American playing partner, will take on a Columbian qualifier in Round-1, with a possible match-up with 16th seeded Caroline Wozniacki in Round-2 if she makes it through.

Qualifier Wang Qiang has a first-round match-up against 24th seeded American Sloane Stephens.

Wang Yafan has a first-round meeting with a Greek qualifier, with a possible 2nd-Round match-up against 10th seeded Carla Suarez-Navaro.

Zhang Saisai will take on a German qualifier, with a potential round-2 date with Venus Williams, who comes in seeded 8th.

And Zhang Shuai has the unenviable task of taking on 2nd seeded Simona Halep in the first round.

The top seed on the women's side, Serena Williams, heads into the tournament looking for her 7th victory in Melbourne.

"I've had a really good preparation. I mean, I didn't have the match play that I've wanted to have. But after playing for so many years on tour, I should be able to, you know, focus on that and the fact that I have played a lot of matches. So that's what I'm trying to focus on now."

On the men's side, China has one representative, with Wu Di making it through the qualifiers, and could end up taking on Japan's Kei Nishikori in Round-2, provided he makes it by an American qualifier in Round-1.

World number three Roger Federer is set to be up against Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia in his opening match.

"I don't know my opponent very well. I almost played him at Wimbledon, I remember. So we'll see how that goes. More focused on my own game right now. My health is good now, so that's crucial, especially now that I play on Monday. Yeah, so I'll get some feedback from Ivan and Severin, see what they can find out about him. But then I think important is going to be how I'm going to play."

Defending champion Novak Djokovic, in the same half of the draw as Federer, will open his defense against a competitor from South Korea.

Second seed Andy Murray will open against a player from Germany while Stan Wawrinka is set to take on Dmitry Tursonov from Russia.
