CRI听力:Zhang Shuai Reaches Fourth Round at Australian Open
27-year old Zhang Shuai's incredible run at the Australian Open continues on.
The Tianjin native, who had to go through the qualifiers to even compete in Brisbane, is into the 4th round of the tournament after dispatching American Varvara Lepchenko in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 on Saturday night.
"I just want to show the best of Zhang Shuai in this match. Before the match I think this is maybe the last match in my life. I tried to make myself do my best in the match. I want to try my best. I want to show the best of Zhang Shuai. I think I did a great job today, yeah," says Zhang Shuai.
Zhang Shuai, who had considered retirement ahead of this tournament, has yet to drop a set in upsetting 2nd seed Simona Halep, France's Alize Cornet and now Lepchenko to reach the 4th round.
Ahead of this tournament, Zhang Shuai had never won a match at a Grand Slam.
The world number 133 will next face 15th seeded American Madison Keys for a place in the quarter-finals.
Madison Keys comes into the match after dispatching Ana Ivanovic.
