CRI听力:Xi Extends Greetings to Non-CPC Parties, Invites Valuable Advice
In extending lunar New Year's greetings to all officials with non-communist parties, Xi Jinping says he appreciates the valuable suggestions they've made over the past year.
"At this time of each year, the Communist Party of China Central Committee gathers with members from non-communist parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and those without party affiliations to celebrate the forthcoming Chinese new year. This is an important and necessary meeting. It represents the cooperative relationship we want, as well as the close ties between the CPC and non-CPC parties."
This year's session in Beijing has come as the country enters a critical stage, as the leadership prepares to implement the 13th Five-Year Plan for social and economic development.
Xi Jinping is calling on non-communist parties to help the CPC push forward its development goals and increase reforms across the country.
"Right now, we should be united in terms of a national development path, direction and goal so we can implement the CPC Central Committee's decisions and arrangements. China's 13th five-year plan will be reviewed by China's legislature body during its annual meetings in March. To carry out the plans, we are calling on all political parties to get onboard."
Han Qide is the head of the Jiusan Society, which is one of eight political parties recognized under the leadership of the CPC.
"In 2015, our nation made great achievements. The whole nation is full of confidence in achieving the Chinese dream under the leadership of Xi Jinping as the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee. At the same time, we are fully-confident in the latest five-year plan, which is a solid blue print for national development in the next five years and beyond."
Under the political structure in China, representatives from non-CPC political parties are consulted about the direction the Communist Party of China is taking when it comes to its policies.
The idea is to allow non-CPC members to have an active voice in shaping national policy.
