CRI听力:China Calls for All-Round Solution to Hot Issues in Mideast

2016-02-01来源:CRI

China's special envoy on Middle East affairs Gong Xiaosheng restated China's stance on regional affairs in the Middle East during his latest trip.

"We hope that the regional conflicts and divergences among countries would be solved through peaceful dialogues. China supports any efforts and initiatives which can help to ease the tensions and push forward the peace process in the region."
He also stressed an all-round solution was needed for the region's principal issues.

"Firstly, the international community should pay attention and offer help to all the hot issues in the Middle East. While pushing to solve one hot issue, we should not ignore other issues. Secondly, the political solutions to Middle East issues should also include socio-economic development, post-war construction and humanitarian assistance."

Gong says Chinese President Xi Jinping's recent visit to the Middle East has signaled that China would like to strengthen cooperation with countries in the region and help with their economic development, especially in infrastructure improvement and industrialization.

He says China's "Belt and Road Initiative" can play an important role in the process.

"Economic development is very important for the future development of the Middle East. We believe that cooperation under the framework of the 'Belt and Road Initiative' will bring new opportunities for the development of the countries in the region, thereby promoting social stability and pushing forward the peace process."

During his recent Middle East visit, President Xi said the Palestinian issue should not fall into oblivion, as it is of fundamental importance to peace in the Middle East, adding that to bring an end to the conflict, the international community should not only promote the resumption of talks and the implementation of the agreements, but also uphold fairness and justice.

To improve the well-being of the Palestinians, China has promised to provide 50 million yuan, or 7.53 million U.S. dollars, in grants to the Palestinian side, and support a solar power station project in its territories.
