CRI听力:F1 Championship Defender Faces Setback in Qualifying

2016-04-17来源:CRI

The Shanghai International Circuit was hit by heavy thundershowers this morning.

The track dried up before qualifying but still had some wet patches.

A late charge from Nico Rosberg has earned him his sixth straight pole position dating back to last season.

Rosburg used soft tyres to gain the advantage through the wet patches today, but says he's not sure if that will work on Sunday.

"I'm not really sure I'm digging into strategies so much yet but I would think it's gonna be a good thing. For sure starting with that tyres maybe gives me a bit of an advantage over the others but as I said I'm not sure yet, we need to look into it tonight."

Daniel Ricciardo finished 2nd in qualifying, admitting he wasn't quite sure how he managed to jump ahead during his last lap.

"Not sure. To be honest we didn't start form the best position in Q1, obviously it was a disrupted session. Just with the balance we didn't seem like we were gonna be in a fight with the front few rows today. In Q3 we basically found more speed and the option here, the super soft is tricky to manage. To get one lap out of it it's not exactly easy; it's chewed up a bit as the lap goes on..."

Kimi Raikkonen will start out behind poll-setter Rosburg after finishing 3rd.

He admits he probably could have done better.

"In the last one I was a bit up and the hairpin I ran wide and lost a lot of time. It's a shame, I think we have a chance to be at the top today but that's how it goes. We'll try to make the most out of it tomorrow. "

Qualifying had to be interrupted twice this Saturday after two other drivers blew tires.

The weekend couldn't have started worse for last year's Drivers Champion Lewis Hamilton.

After receiving a five-place grid penalty for a gearbox change on Thursday, Hamilton was unable to complete one of his laps in qualifying, meaning he will be starting out Sunday's race from the back of the grid.
